Back to business: my first ever re-fashion!

Well it’s been a totally whirlwind week, but now things are finally calming down a bit, I’m able to get back to what this here blog is all about: sewing!

When Portia contacted me about being part of the Refashioners challenge for 2015 I nearly said “no”. Much as I admire people who can take something hideous from a charity shop and transform it into something chic, I’ve never been one of them. But I thought I should try new things, stretch the old sewing boundaries, and it was a lot of fun!

You can read all about my transformation, and see step-by-step guidance on how to recreate it yourself, over on the Makery. You should also join in, because there’s a stonkingly good prize package to be had!

Hi Jenny! Found your blog after reading the Guardian.com article. I love your work! I remember my mum also sowed my clothes when I was a kid and was (still am) 25+ bmi. Keep on doing what you do, you’re a wonderful fit lady! 😀

Hi Jenny, I just found your site via the article in The Guardian. Congratulations! I love how you managed to go beyond sizes and fashion. And I love your outfits!
I create made to measure flamenco dance costumes and one of the things I love about flamenco is that there is space for all ages, shapes and sizes. I see every day that size has nothing to do with beauty or confidence. Instead of trying to fit in whatever is fashion this season we are much better off wearing clothes that fit our bodies. Way to go, girl! Lots of love from Spain, Anke

Let me know what you think!
