Now I’ve sewn myself a pair of Calder Pants, I’m never making another trouser pattern again

As a pear-shaped, curvy woman, I found shopping for trousers an absolute nightmare. Then I taught myself to sew, so - after a frustrating, long, unhappy experience trying to get other trouser patterns to fit my shape - I could eventually sew my own trousers! I thought that was the best I could hope for (trouser sewing being forever miserable!) until I found the Calder Pants. What a game-changer! I feel so seen! I have the most flattering trousers I’ve ever sewn, and they were fun to sew! There’s nothing too fiddly, and they’re designed for ME!! All I have left to say is a as huuuuuuge thank you!

In love of this Calder!

I made my first Calder pants to wear at work, but in the minute I finished them I didn't want to wear them with my old shirts and shoes...they were so lovely that I knew I needed a new pair of shirts and shoes! I love cashmerette because it's simple instructions for a beginner like me! Always my first option!

My go-to linen pants pattern

I love this pattern and I've made three pairs of linen pants with it. After the first pair, I had to shorten the crotch length by about six inches, which seems weird because my proportions are not unusual. But once I'd figured out the alteration, everything was fine. I've since read all the other reviews, and found that quite a few people mention the very long rise. Perhaps this is something that Cashmerette could revise. With the first pair I made, if the crotch seam was in the right place, the waistband was up around my boobs.

Stylish, straightforward to make

I used the pdf pattern and it was easy to put it together with glue stick and masking tape. I'm a " confident beginner" when it comes to sewing. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.
I made it in polyester crepe fabric first ( which was cheap but still drapes well) and then made some adjustments (as the sizing is generous) for a second pair in a light suiting. There are adjustment lines for the rise marked on the pattern which is very helpful. I am wearing both loads.
I recommend this pattern as its straightforward to make, has clear pattern markings and well thought through instructions. The trousers are comfy and versatile, and have good sized pockets.
