Ames Jeans Bundle: Dark Indigo Cone Mills Denim Kit
High quality denim makes all the difference in your handmade jeans, and it doesn't get any better than Cone Mills denim. This denim is sourced specifically for the Ames Jeans and you'll find a lovely balance between stretchy comfort and rigidity that keeps your jeans looking amazing all day long! Cone Mills has been manufacturing denim since 1891; they know what they're doing. The S-Gene denim that we're stocking is a stretch denim with incredible recovery. You'll find their denim in high end ready to wear jeans, so why not use it to make the most perfectly fitting pair of jeans?
This kit contains all the denim and notions you'll need to make your jeans - just add the interfacing and lining of your choice. The Ames Jeans pattern is available separately.
What's in the kit?
- 2.75 yards (2.5 m) Cone Mills S-Gene Denim
- Dark indigo color, 91 Cotton/7 Poly/2 Elastane, 10.5 oz. 50" wide
- 1 YKK 7" (18 cm) navy jeans zipper
- 1 spool Gutermann topstitching thread, copper color
- 1 jeans button, bronze
- 10 jeans rivets, bronze (includes 2 extra for practice)
- 2 Schmetz jeans needles
You'll also need 5/8 yard (0.6 m) fusible interfacing and 1 yd (0.9 m) of lining fabric such as quilting cotton to make your Ames Jeans (not included in kit).
Machine wash cold, tumble dry or lay flat to dry. Be sure to prewash your denim; denim will bleed for the first few wears, so be careful around white sofas!. Washing with vinegar to help set the dye.
Please note: due to the heavy weight of the kit, packages will be sent Priority Mail (they are too heavy for First Class). If ordered within the US, in some cases we are able to find lower rates, and we will refund you accordingly. Internationally, Priority Mail USPS is the lowest price available.
I ordered the Ames Jeans Bundle because of the opportunity to buy good quality denim.
I loved the pattern. I have a long waist and struggle to get jeans to fit me.
Also I object to homemade jeans that look homemade - this is best pattern ever for making jeans that look like I might have picked them up downtown.
Lovely and a pattern I am sure I will use again.
I also loved the denim - I live in a small country in the Pacific and it is hard to get good quality denim.
