Cedar Dolman Top
So easy to make, and I really love the fit. I made a size 16C/D and I probably could’ve made a 14 graded to a 16. I used fabric I bought from Cashmerette and I love it. Took me a while to get to it but now I’m so glad I did.
This was a wonderful pattern to make. It was quick and easy to cut out and sew up, and fits like a DREAM! I'm a size 18C/D and this took me an afternoon to make. Adorable, looks like I bought it in a store!
I’ve made the Cedar Dolman in woven fabrics almost countless times. Well, not really countless: five times as a top and five times as a dress. It really works for me both as a great simple top (I cut the front on the fold instead of with a CF seam) and as a versatile base for hacking. I’ve lengthened the sleeves, added gathered long sleeves, added hem ruffles, added both separate and grown-on skirts. Before making the first one I auditioned three similar tops, and my toile of the Cedar Dolman was far and away superior to the others for my large-busted shape. Not long ago I bought the pattern again as a gift for a family member who I was helping get back into sewing.
