Gift Ideas for the Holidays: eBook and gift cards!

Gift giving at the holidays can often leave me scratching my head, but today I have two fun ideas for the curvy sewists in your life! Or maybe even, an addition to your wish list…

First up, I’ve written a humorous article for the new holiday eBook Sew Place Like Home which is available to buy now on Amazon. It’s a fun read, and excellent for hiding away in a corner when the flying pumpkin pie / Christmas pudding / festive cake gets a bit too much!
Sew Place Like Home

It’s a compilation of stories, tutorials and recipes with a sewing slant, and in addition to my attempts to be funny there’s some really entertaining and heartfelt stories in there. I decided to write a “Field Guide to the Common Sewer”: a guidebook for people intrigued by this unusual species who disappear for hours at an end in fabric stores and hole up on Sunday afternoons to bond with a clattering serger.

Here’s a sneak peek at part 1 of my guide:

1. Naming conventions

a) sew·er   (ˈsō(ə)r/) . Common term used to describe people, mostly, but not exclusively, women, who engage in sewing. Not to be confused with a drain. Known to engage in vigorous online forum debate about non-use of word “sewist” (see part (b)).

b) sew-ist. (ˈsōist/). Radical new-wave non-conformist thinker who outrageously rejects the proper term “sewer” in favor of a neologism. . Approach with caution, behavior may be erratic.

Going out on a limb here. Is one of our “hints” the lovely shirt you are wearing and can almost see in the picture. Oh how I hope so! I have been hoping for a woven shirt pattern with your magic touch and fit!

Hello, I would love to read this book, but I only have an iPad and generally I buy books on IBooks. Do you know if or when it would be released on the iBooks store? Thanks in advance for the answer and please continue what you’re doing because it is awesome!
