Getting Started
Welcome to a whole new world of possibilities! We have lots of patterns and resources for beginners and there’s a few different ways to explore.
Check out our beginner-friendly collection, or look for patterns tagged with “Great for beginners” on any page!
Head over to our “Learn to Sew” pages to get tons of great information on learning to sew and fit, including everything you need to know about “Sewing the Curve”, our book on plus-size beginner sewing!
All our patterns are available in PDF digital format to instantly download, and we also offer a selection of patterns in printed format, too. If you purchase a printed pattern, you’ll also get the PDF of that pattern for free with your purchase.
Our patterns are available in two size ranges: 0-16 and 12-32. For our print patterns, the size ranges are sold separately (although, you also receive the PDF pattern in the full size range for free!). For our PDF patterns, the full size range 0-32 is included in your purchase.
The two size ranges were drafted to provide the best possible fit for different body proportions, and they overlap in the size 12-16 range. Learn more about how to pick your size range in the "Sizing" section of the FAQs.
Yes! We offer digital gift cards that make perfect gifts for the sewists in your life. Gift cards can be used for both digital and physical patterns.

Patterns
When you place your order, you'll receive an order confirmation email that contains your download link. The email comes from "Cashmerette" (check your junk/spam folder if you don't see it). Download links never expire and are tied to your account for easy re-access. In addition, you can download your digital pattern any time from your account page.
No problem! You have several options:
- Check your account dashboard if you have one—all your patterns are there
- Email us at hello@cashmerette.com with your order details
Yes! If you purchased a PDF pattern and we later update it (adding sizes, fixing errors, or making improvements), you'll receive the updated version free of charge. You can access them any time through your account or download links.
PDF patterns are delivered as .zip files, which can't be opened on most phones or tablets. However, you can open the .zip file on your computer and then transfer the individual PDF files to your mobile device for viewing.
- Download and save the .zip file to your computer (don't just click "open")
- Extract the files by dragging them from the .zip folder to your desktop
- Choose your size group—patterns are organized by size range.
- Select your format: Print_At_Home, A0_Copyshop, or US_Copyshop
- Test print one page first, ensuring the test square measures exactly 1 inch. We strongly recommend using the free Adobe Reader software, which prints our patterns easily and accurately.
- Print and assemble following the grid system on each page
Our patterns work with both A4 and US Letter paper. Choose whichever is standard in your region.
Yes! Every pattern includes copy shop files for both A0 paper (common in Europe) and 36-inch wide paper (common in the US). Simply take or email these files to your local print shop.
Yes! Our newer patterns include layered PDFs, allowing you to turn individual sizes on/off before printing. This feature requires Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download). Open the layers panel and click the eye icons to show/hide sizes you don't need. Learn more here.
Not currently, but we're exploring this option. If you're interested in projector files, please let us know at hello@cashmerette.com.
My pattern prints without margins. Download the file to your computer first, then open with Adobe Reader. If you attempt to print directly from a web browser you will encounter this problem.
The test square isn't 1 inch. Ensure your printer isn't scaling the document. Select "No Scaling" or "Custom Fit = 100%" in your print settings.
For more comprehensive troubleshooting, check out our PDF guide.
Books
We have two bestselling books written by Jenny Rushmore, both designed specifically for curvy sewists. Each book includes multiple sewing patterns and expert guidance:

- The ultimate guide for plus size beginners who want to learn to sew clothes.
- 6 full size patterns included (print and PDF).
- Sizes 12-32 (UK 16-36) and cup sizes C-H
"Ahead of the Curve: Learn to Fit and Sew Amazing Clothes for Your Curves" (2021)
- A comprehensive guide to fitting for plus size sewists.
- 5 full size patterns included (print and PDF).
- Sizes 12-32 (UK 16-36) and cup sizes C-H
"Sewing the Curve" is focused on learning how to sew, and is aimed at beginners. "Ahead of the Curve" is focused on how to fit sewing patterns to your body, and is aimed at all skill levels.
The book patterns come in sizes 12-32 (US) and cup sizes C-H. The printed patterns are included in the back of the book in an envelope. They are printed on both sides, so must be traced before using. The PDF digital downloads are available from our website—see the information in the book on how to access them.
No, these patterns are exclusive to the books and cannot be purchased individually. However, the books are an incredible value—you get multiple patterns plus comprehensive instruction for less than the cost of buying patterns separately!
No, the patterns in the books are exclusively available in the 12-32 size range.
Yes! When you order "Sewing the Curve" or "Ahead of the Curve" directly from Cashmerette, you'll receive a copy personally signed by Jenny Rushmore.
"Ahead of the Curve" is available in:
- English (original) - available to buy from Cashmerette (US)
- French - available at select retailers
- Finnish - available at select retailers.
"Sewing the Curve" is currently available in English only.

Each course includes a detailed supply list.
Absolutely! All courses are designed for home sewists working independently. Sloper School specifically assumes you're working solo—no fitting buddy or dress form required.
Our courses welcome sewists at all levels! While you should know basic sewing skills, you don't need fitting experience. Jenny explains everything step-by-step, from the fundamentals up to advanced techniques. The one exception is Sloper School, which is for sewists with previous fitting experience.
Digital products including online courses cannot be returned or refunded since you receive immediate access to all materials.
Our courses are hosted on a separate platform to our store, so you will be prompted to create a new class account with a login and password.

Sizing
Measure yourself, and then use our easy-to-use size calculator to find your size in seconds! Note that sewing sizes work very differently to ready-to-wear (shop-bought) clothing sizes, so be sure to use your measurements to select.
There is lots of variation in sizing between sewing brands, ready-to-wear clothing brands, and even countries. For that reason, your Cashmerette size may be different to what you're used to!
We always recommend using your measurements and our size calculator to pick the right size in Cashmerette for you, even if this does not match your typical size.
Cashmerette patterns are designed in three cup sizes: C/D, E/F, and G/H. Each was created using separate blocks for the best possible fit with no Full Bust Adjustment needed for most people!
Use your high bust measurement (taken without a bra) and full bust measurement (with a bra) to choose the right cup size—you can use our size calculator, or compare to the sizing charts.
Note that as bra sizing is very different between brands, and countries, it's important to use your measurements and our size calculator/charts, and not your usual bra size.
Our bra patterns are designed in a different way, with a size range of 28C to 54J. Learn more about how to select your bra size using your full bust and under bust measurements.
All our patterns can be altered using a Full Bust Adjustment or Small Bust adjustment.
No problem - this is true for most people! See our detailed guide on grading between sizes for specific instructions on creating a custom-fit unique for your body.
Most of our patterns come with two size ranges, 0-16 and 12-32. They have been drafted separately, to create the best possible fit at all sizes.
- If all your measurements fit in the 0-16 range, use that range.
- If all your measurements fit in the 12-32 range, use that range.
- If all your measurements fit in the 12-16 sizes, you can use either range. The key differences are that the 12-32 range typically has lower bust darts, a higher waist and may have slightly longer front lengths.
- If your measurements span the two size ranges (e.g. 8 G/H bust with an 18 hip), we recommend picking the size range that matches your bust and grading up or down the rest. As the two size ranges were developed on different blocks, it is not possible to grade between sizes across the two ranges.
Our patterns are designed for 5'6" height. All patterns include lengthen/shorten lines with specific instructions for height adjustments.
Indeed, we can!
- First, check out our sizing page, tutorials section (click on 'tutorials' in the navigation bar), and the fitting section of the pattern instructions.
- Second, we have a best-selling fitting book, “Ahead of the Curve”, and an online course, “Bodice Fitting for Curves”.
- Finally, you can always email us directly for help at hello@cashmerette.com.
