Curvy Sewing Education Week: Sew a professional collar (video)

It’s the last day of Curvy Sewing Education Week and I saved the best for last: a video from our online workshop, Shirtmaking For Curves, where I teach you techniques that aren’t in the instruction booklet for how to get a really professional-looking collar on any shirt or shirtdress. And your final reminder that you can get 25% off ALL our online workshops using code EDUCATIONWEEK until Aug 31 – we won’t be doing another workshop sale this year, so now’s a great time to sign up!

Enjoy this video – and let me know if you have any questions!

You don’t post the cost in your ad. It appears that you must first register for the class before finding out how much it will cost. Why?

On the sales page I linked to, it says “Enroll in course for $59” at the top of the page.

Hi, Jenny! I just want to say how much it warms my heart that you young ones are bringing back sewing and doing it in such a great way! I have a question about the shirt pattern. You mention that this pattern is great for flannels. What do you do with the middle side front panel? I do not know if I am up to matching plaids for that. Just looking for some inspiration.

Hi, thanks for the kind words! So you can match the plaid using the lengthen/shorten lines, and you’ll find it’s fairly easy to match the panels up until the curve in the princess seam, at which point it’s not geometrically possible. Here’s a tutorial: http://curvysewingcollective.com/an-easy-way-to-stripe-and-plaid-match-on-shirts/

If you search the hashtag #HarrisonShirt on Instagram, you’ll find lots of examples of plaid Harrisons done this way.

Let me know what you think!
