Party dress

I made the view B of the dress, swapping in flutter sleeves after my first toile as I need a full bicep adjustment and tried both sleeve variations and neither was flattering on a fuller arm, hence a flutter sleeve I also lengthened. I lengthened the skirt by 4 inches to get a tea length for a wedding.
I did two toiles, but found my final fabric (crepe) gave an unexpected result. The skirt really dragged down the waistline - I had to remove about 3 inches at the front waist which was fiddly after sewing and overlocking - I hate going backwards! I ended up making a self tie belt a couple of inches wide as I found the ties supporting the weight of the longer skirt - even in a light crepe - could not do the job well, and I needed the belt to add definition. I raised the neckline (I am a G cup and needed more coverage) and had to grade the waist out. I found the multiple sizes on the print pattern REALLY HARD to work with for grading, in some areas it is impossible to follow the lines as so many sizes overlap. The size calculator gave me an 18 bust 24 waist 18 hip; I ended up making a 22 bust, 24 waist and 20 hip as the size recommendation was way off. So toile first my sewing friends! Happy with finished result after all adjustments, but a little hard to get there.

I used this pattern to make a getaway dress for my sister in law and a couple dresses for my mom’s mother of the bride dress. My mom loves the dresses so much she wears it all the time even though she’s usually a jeans person. I was worried about fit since I was making it from so far away but it fit perfectly! Now I just need to get around to making one for me :)

Fantastic pattern, its such a great fit and I’ve gotten so many compliments! I love it!

Perfect dress for a full bust.

Found this pattern on Instagram and it was recommended for a fuller bust. I made it from a sequin fabric for a ball for my daughter and it was a perfect fit for G bust and the crossover was at the perfect height. So happy with the finished product she now wants a few more.
