Washington Dress
Mixing the comfort of a knit bodice with the fabric possibilities of a woven skirt, the Washington Dress gives you the freedom to play with colors and textures, for a look that’s uniquely you. Like all Cashmerette Patterns, the bodice comes in three cup sizes (C/D, E/F, and G/H), which makes fitting a cinch!
Style wise, the Washington Dress gives you endless design options. The knit bodice features a figure-enhancing scoop neckline and three sleeve variations: short, three-quarter, or full length. The A-line skirt cleverly combines woven fabric with a heavy knit yoke, eliminating the need for closures and allowing you to comfortably slip the dress over your head. For additional tummy control, the front yoke can be made from a woven fabric.
This Cashmerette pattern includes:
- Cup sizes from C to H
- A sizing calculator which will tell you exactly which size to make
- A beautifully illustrated and detailed instruction booklet, to guide you no matter your sewing level
- A full photo sewalong on our blog with tips and techniques that go beyond the instruction booklet

I’ve made this dress up 2 times so far. I always get compliments on it when I wear it.
I’m a person who is lost without pockets, so I added them to my 2nd Washington Dress.
First, I am still sort of new to this PDF thing but I had no problems with this one. Differently agree it’s an advance beginner pattern due to the mixing of fabrics (knit with woven). The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, there isn’t a lot of pieces and no closures. I was able to make mines with some scraps I had on hand, so that’s another reason I love this dress.
I used the size calculator to help me get the best fit, and it worked perfectly. It's flattering to my 62-yr old curvy figure, even if it's a closer fit than what I usually wear. I was inspired to try it by the older woman on the pattern envelope. The instructions are great and it sews up beautifully. Mixing fabrics for each section of the dress is fun and lets me make a dress that doesn't feel too "young" for me. I'm working on my third one now!
My finished Washington dress fits perfectly. Even though it’s closer fitting than most garments I make, it is flattering to my plus size curvy body. I’m excited about the possibilities for mixing fabrics for different looks with this pattern.
I love the layer PDFs so that I can print just the sizes I need! I am so excited to add to my Cashmerette dress collection!
This dress turned out beautifully! I wanted to use up some remnants of a scuba print and a Liverpool solid, and I bought a coordinating solid for the skirt. Only mods were my adding 1" to the bodice because I'm tall. The pattern is well drafted and very easy to put together. I will make more!
