I sewed the cowl neck version and i'm enjoying it. Very cozy and the longer back covers well! I had to significantly adjust the sleeves since I have large arms, right below my biceps and lower the bust darts. Will make more next fall!
I really like the Tobin. I found an athleisure cable knit sweater fabric that sews up beautifully with the cowl neck. Got a compliment the first time I wore it. My only issue is I have to do an SBA. That does not take away from my 5 star review however. I followed the SBA directions available right on the website. I understand Cashmerette is mainly designed for the curvy chested woman. My curves are on the backside so I plan to purchase the Ames jeans pattern soon that has a pear shape option.
I made my first Tobin from micro rib scuba, view B with a straight hem. Size 18 G/H cup. It was cut out and sewn up in an afternoon! As Cashmerette patterns usually fit me pretty perfectly first time I didn’t do a toile. On my next Tobin - as there will be more - I will lower the bust dart 1” and straighten the lower sides at the hip area but that’s all. I think the Tobin would also make a great sweater dress for a casual comfy look.
I struggle to get tops to fit my bust.
This pattern was so easy. Take measurements, (be honest with oneself).
Look at table and cup size. Take the plunge.
I made size 24 with G cup. View B with several hacks. Only had 1.5 m of French jersey fabric. It was close but as you can see from photo it all came together. Used my overlocker and Coverpro. Making more tomorrow.
Super easy make. Directions were great. I stumbled a bit on sewing down the "wing" on the cowl (I sewed too far), but I think that's because I shortened the height of the cowl (I have a short neck). I also over-altered the pattern a bit so it's a little too short and wide, but it fits great in the shoulders. I'm anxious for a re-do and can't wait to make another one! I love the style of the Tobin and have been admiring it for months.
Bicep needed adjustment, but the fit was good with my regular adjustments. I got many compliments when I wore it.
