OMG the fit!

I've just finished sewing the Alton top. I did the plain sleeve and cut a v-neck becuase that's my thing. The sizing calculator said to cut a 24 and grade the waistline out to a 28, and I didn't fancy doing any "proper" adjustments so I went with that. I carry my all extra waist measurement all in the front, so I cut a 24 back and graded to 30 on the waistline in the front and I'm stunned at how good it looks first time out!
It fits my shoulders, and my bust, and my belly, and my arms (full bicep sleeve) and now I'm off to cut an Upton in the same size to wear at my son's wedding in August.
So so happy! Thank you.

New neckline for me

I wanted to try something I have never done before. I found this fabric in my stash but wanted to limit the amount of seams so this seemed like a great idea. I've never done a keyhole neckline so yay me. If this fabric wasn't the crinkly wonder that it is this would have been a breeze to sew. The print is one that I didn't want the folds in the sleeves but next time I'm going to try that.

Perfect canvas for a lovely print

I absolutely adore this blouse pattern! It is very simple to make, and the keyhole detail is just the right amount of detail so that you can let a busy print shine, without resorting to a very plain blouse pattern. I made it with short sleeves. The keyhole is a little too high on me (this is just my body, not a pattern issue!) so I will adjust it down 1.5 cm next time, and make one size up for a winter version so I can fit an undershirt to keep me warm through the Nordic winters.

Button Placket Alton Hack

Another Alton- customized with a button placket , bound neckline, bishop sleeves with narrow cuffs, back yoke. Such a great starting point for “build your favorite blouse.”

So Many Possibilities

Alton blouse is such a great starting point for creativity. I made three with features including bishop sleeves and sleeveless, back yoke, neckline variations. Showcase a beautiful fabric with this lovely pattern. The fit and instructions are stars.

Alton is perfect for bold prints

The Alton is a great design to showcase a bold print fabric like the orange and purple floral cotton I used. The simple front has bust darts for shaping and the cool keyhole neckline. It is a great beginner top for practicing matching you fabric design across the pattern. On the black and white linen print version I added a wide elasticated waistband to a shortened version of the top. Size 20 GH cup.
