RECOMMENDED FABRIC

Underdress main fabric: Light- to mid-weight woven fabrics such as satin, cotton, linen etc. If making a standalone underdress, other wovens such as brocade or jacquard can work well.

Underdress lining fabric: Self-line in main fabric, or use a lighter weight woven fabric such as cotton lawn, rayon bemberg, or silk crepe de chine. If using a heavier main fabric for your underdress, you’ll definitely want to use a lighter weight lining.

Overdress/skirt fabric: Sheer fabrics such as organza or tulle, including those embellished with embroidery, beads, or sequins.

NOTIONS

All views: universal or microtex needle, thread, hand sewing needle

Underdress: 24”/ 61 cm invisible zip, optional: ¼” (6 mm) wide clear elastic (3/4 yds/0.7 m for 0 – 16 range, 7/8 yds/0.8 m for 12 – 32 range)

Overdress: skirt/pants hook and slide (1 set), standard hook & eyes (at least 1 set), fold-over elastic or bias tape in a coordinating color (11/8 yds/1 m for 0 – 16 range, 15/8 yds/1.5 m for 12 – 32 range)

Overskirt: Skirt/pants hook and slide (1 set), one ½” (12 mm) clear or flat button (not visible when worn)
