Gilmore skirt

I made the Gilmore skirt in a cotton sateen and I lined it with an anti static lining. The pattern pieces all sewed together well with the notches and other markings being very clear. I made a small adjustment to the hip curve in the side seams to better fit my shape. The front pockets are well placed and a good size. All of the instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Nice skirt, No pockets

A circle skirt is relatively easy to draft so while nice to verify it's been done properly, a commercial isn't essential to making one. The addition of pockets or how to add pockets would however have elevated the pattern to 5 star. Instructions, as usual were good.

Delighted with pattern

This was my first Cashmerette make - I am part way through making the Gilmore Skirt as a frock with the Upton top part. The pattern is easy to follow, makes sense, the instructions are really straightforward. I will be making lots more Cashmerette.

Amazing

Love the Gilmore skirt. It’s the first skirt I’ve sewn and the first zip I’ve sewn. I also added pockets to each side of the front panel, another first. The instructions are clear as they always are with Cashmerette patterns and the fit is perfect. Already have plans to sew more.

Gilmore Skirt

This is one of the best patterns Cashmerette has in its lineup! While it uses a fair amount of fabric, it is a very easy make, and only 2 pattern pieces! I have wanted a full circle skirt for a long time, but making one in a size 32 and trying to draft it myself seemed daunting, but using 3 cuts of the skirt to make a full circle instead of two was genius! The first one I made I used a very wide white linen. It was simple to stitch together, and hanging it overnight was really necessary as it grew in length quite a bit due to the loose weave of the linen.
Then this week I purchased quilting fabric to make 4 more skirts, and didn't have enough fabric even though I bought the correct length of fabric. Turned out the quilt fabric was only 42" wide, and take away the selvedges even narrower! So on the next skirt I cut out of quilt fabric, I trimmed down the pattern width at the hem, so it's not a TRUE circle, but still plenty of twirling action!
I love the way it looks on my frame, no bulk at the waist and super comfortable!

LOVE My SKIRT! Can't stop twirling in it. (of course until I am dizzy.) My first try at making the skirt was an epic failure due to me not understanding how many panels to make:( It fit only one leg) Then the second skirt, was the ah ha moment and I am in love. I look at my skirt with glee. Thank you Cashmerette:)
