Lovely Loring

I just finished my first Loring dress. I made a size 14CD, I am 5’6” tall and I didn’t have to make any alterations. I made mine without the ruffles on the top half but did add a ruffle to the bottom, making it midi length due to fabric restrictions. I used a viscose fabric with green palm fronds on a black background. It’s lovely and swishy, I just love it!

Love this dress!!!

I have not made this dress yet. I’m busy with sewing for grandkids right now!! I’ll get my time come January, hopefully!

Not hard to sew, but also not a great fit.

Looked cute on the model, but definitely not made for tall people unless you do some serious alterations. I’ll never wear my version. Fairly disappointed.

Love the Loring!

I love the Loring dress. It is a perfect example of what sewing means to me. I'm not really a ruffle person and I would never buy this dress RTW. The RTW version would be ill fitting in some way that I wouldn't want to risk. However, seeing it on others and getting to adjust it to my preferences made me try it.

I used a yellow and black cotton batik. The pattern really lets the fabric shine. The instructions (and video tutorial!) were very clear and it was a joy to sew.

I get sooooo many compliments from this one. I love it, easy to make. I have made it using the kit from Core fabrics and from white and cerulean blue poplin that I lined with cupro (it wasn't opaque enough for me) from the same company. I did the sleeveless floor length, no ruffle around the neck version of each. They are great to wear at work too.
