I made the Kineton out of a cotton I’d been saving for something special! After I made the FBA adjustments to the pattern as I learned how to do in Sloper School, I made the dress am very happy with how the Kineton turned out. It fit very comfortably! I also made my own bias tape for the neckline and liked having that custom look. The pattern directions were clear and easy to follow. Thanks, Cashmerette, for another great fitting dress! I’ll be making more in the future.

I am so pleased that I decided to try making the Kineton Dress as a work dress. I found some lovely navy/white spotty viscose fabric and this pattern makes for a smart dress. I was delighted that I didn’t have issues with the suggested sizes for my body, no FBA needed, although I did move the apex down around one inch as everything is moving South!

I love sewing and I alternate between simple and complex patterns. I found this a lovely simple pattern and easy to make, which is a exactly what I want when making any clothes for work.

I love flowy dresses. And for me, the Kineton is basically the Goldilocks of dresses. It's not too wide, but not so fitting that it needs a zipper. It's not too short and easy to lengthen, but it's not a maxi dress. It's great with all kinds of fabrics. It's just the perfect summer dress pattern and I've made six so far. One in a stretchy cotton that keeps the shape a little more than most fabrics, one in double gauze which is so great for beach days, one in a really thin viscose, two for church in simple poplin cotton which always looks great, and one in a viscose linen mix. It just works out great all the time. And I am by no means a experienced sewist, it's just a really easy well written pattern.

I got this pattern through my Club subscription back in July or August and only just now had time to make it. I'm going on vacation soon, and this looked like a great travel dress. Even though i've made darted woven bodices from Cashmerette before and knew I wouldn't need many adjustments (I always make a straight 22 and then have to cut it down to a 20, every time, I always do this LOL) , I still made a muslin, because I wasn't sure about the sleeves and I also for the life of me could not understand how the encased elastic waistband was supposed to work no matter how many times I read the directions. But sure enough, when I got to it, I just followed the directions one at a time (I drew the stitching lines right onto the fabric in permanent ball-point ink so I couldn't possibly mess up) and it went right together and now I understand how to enclose elastic in the seam allowances where a bodice and skirt come together! So now this is a skill I have, and next time it won't be hard at all. (Still might draw those stitching lines on in chalk or something.) And it turns out I do in fact hate puff sleeves, so now I know that and it was great to find it out in the muslin. It was simplicity itself to use the sleeves from another Cashmerette pattern for my next version (the Honeybourne dress from the AotC book)-- I compared the armscyes, and they're the same, so bingo! Straight sleeves, zero fuss. I'm going to dye the muslin and chop out a little of the sleeve fabric and I now have a wearable dress.
I'm adding an inch to the bodice length, just to give that waist a little more room, cutting a straight 20 like I needed all along, and I'm finishing one now in a rayon/linen blend to travel in. But I like the pattern so much, and now that I know i can hack the sleeves, I'm doing one with flutter sleeves in a cotton double gauze, and extending the skirt length but leaving the side seams open below the knee, to be a beach coverup for this vacation. I'm probably going to make five more of these dresses in various materials. I love it tremendously, and it's so easy to make minor alterations that give it loads more functionality for specific purposes.
Which, like, is the point of making our own clothes, right?? Making them for our needs? Anyway I'm delighted. This is a great utilitarian not-too-frilly dress to knock around in, and I love the pockets, the waistband looks great and fits so easily, and the binding on the neckline gives it a really polished finish that should hold up really well to wear and washing.

I joined the club just so I could make the Kineton dress. It's such a nice dress to make. It's easy with no closures and easy to wear too. I made mine in rayon and added some length in the bodice. So happy with my dress that I've already cut out another.

I needed something quick to add to a holiday weekend and this fit the bill perfectly! I used cotton from my stash and it’s a perfect summertime easy make. I will be making more!
