Pembroke Dress & Tunic
The Pembroke dress and tunic patten is so comfy and easy to make it’s almost too good to be true! The dress has many color blocking options and always looks good. The tunic is flattering and super comfortable. The pattern is fairly simple, easy to understand and construct. When I want something new and comfy in a dress, this is my go-to pattern. Highly recommend.
I loved this tunic. I made a striped version and plan to make at least 3 more. It fits so well I love it
I am a new sewer, more inexperienced with knits than wovens, and found this pattern to be easy and rewarding. The Pembroke instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. Knowing what I know about the Cashmerette block and my body, my first foray was a graded one, increasing two sizes between shoulder and hip. I made the muslin tunic-length, sweetheart neckline from a nice thick cotton pique and basically didn't want to take it off for days. I made a second tunic from a dressier, drapey bamboo-spandex blend that had a different vibe but worked equally well. My next foray will be to try dress length, maybe extending it to mid calf, maybe adding an off center slit in the front. It's such a versatile pattern. I'll make a dozen before I file the Pembroke away.
I've made 2 tunics, one turtleneck, one scoop neck. Both are extremely flattering and perfect for our southern California winters. Looking forward to sewing up some spring/summer dresses as well. A versatile all season pattern with perfect shaping for a flattering modern fit!
As soon as I saw this pattern I knew it was for me - I personally prefer dresses with no waist seam but often they can look shapeless but having the wonderful belt this is perfect. I used a patterned knit at the front with a plain at the back and sleeves and used the patterned fabric on the sleeve cuff. I did lower the waist an inch which I feel looked better on my shape and I made the hem lower - about calf height. Other than that it was great straight "out of the box". Having an adjustable waist was perfect on Christmas day. Looking forward to more in this vein. thank-you Cashmerette.
