Montrose top

Made the top for my daughter without her with me; in fact, I haven't seen her in person in 3 years. Did the sizing by using her measurements. She loved the top and has requested that I make a couple more for her -- it FITS and she is hard to fit! The only change I made was to use a traditional neckline facing using the back yoke as one piece of the facing. She also would like the width at the shoulders of the lower neckline made a 1/4 inch smaller

A nice and handy pattern

A quick and easy pattern, comfortable to wear and will become a staple in my wardrobe. Well written pattern.

Don’t underestimate the Montrose!

I’ve been a devotee of Cashmerette for two years now (I’ve made and reviewed the Alcott and the Calder), and consistently scrolled past the Montrose because I did not see its potential. Now that I’m more of an intermediate sewist, my mind has been completely changed, because it is the ideal surface for decorative elements!

The first one I made is the red one (with an Alaïa-inspired wave hem), and I moved the dart 1.5” lower straight away and then discovered I needed a 1.5” sway back adjustment on the fold as well. I would recommend the extra sway back (even though Cashmerette includes one already!) if you have a larger bum and/or a pronounced pelvic tilt. However, I am always shocked how well Cashmerette G/H cup fits my 34K bustline with no adjustments save for moving the dart!

After I figured out how to make it my best fit, I made the long, lantern-sleeved dark gray top, and the smocked sleeve light gray top.

Its classic lines play so well with my trendier ideas and it will continue to be my workhorse pattern.

Montrose top

A top that fits!
Used the size calculator, worked well and made my first top with large bicep sleeve option. No alterations!!
I’ve made shift dresses from the pattern, just needed to take in a bit around the hips

The perfect tee

This was my first Cashmerette pattern, and I was super impressed. I've made several, and find myself wearing one multiple days a week. The darts make it super flattering, and I think the version with back gathers is really fun. Planning to make a summery tiered dress using this, and I think it'll be perfect.
