Meet the Meriam Trousers: woven pants you'll actually enjoy wearing! Classic trousers can be pretty uncomfortable if your waist spreads when you sit down—and whose doesn't? But thanks to an innovative flex waistband, the Meriam Trousers keep you comfortable while standing or sitting, without compromising on style and sophistication!

The Meriam has the classic details you love in a trouser: a zip fly with a hidden closure, front slash pockets, straight legs, and optional back welt pockets. But best of all, you'll get a fabulously comfortable fit with a flex waistband that gently expands by 3-4" as you sit down, plus the option of a full bum adjustment piece, already done for you.

This Cashmerette pattern includes:

  • Standard and flex waistband that expands gently as you sit
  • Standard and full bum fit options
  • A guide to taking your measurements and selecting your size
  • A beautifully illustrated and detailed instruction booklet to guide you no matter your sewing level

Great pattern but difficult construction

I bought the class with the pattern and I don’t think I would have managed to construct the special waistband without it. I had to also do a lot of iterations on the fitting as I’m pretty much a straight line from waist to hips and the weight of the fabric was too much for the elastic so the pants were always kind of dropping from my waist. Still having figured how to solve this issue when carrying my phone in the pocket. Despite all of this I wear this pants ALL THE TIME and will start with my second pair shortly!

Great design

This took me a while, mainly because the instructions are so detailed. I really liked my end result, made from brown corduroy. The view A, elastic waistband really works and are very comfortable. I was confused at the end because the instructions don't mention the belt loops for view A, then suddenly you get to the end and they mention belt loops! So I have a piece cut out for belt loops which I haven't used because you are supposed to attach them when attaching the waistband. I notice the pictures for the models have belt loops.
But all in all a success, and I would make them again.

Very Good Instructions

I bought this pattern so I could learn how to make the extendable waistband, since I couldn’t seem to figure it out for myself. I was very pleased with how clear and accurate the technical descriptions and illustrations were. My first pair turned out very well and the second pair was even better. FWIW I superimposed my self-drafted, fitted pant slopes with personalized crotch curve over the pattern to get the fit right from the first try. It was very true to the size you’d expect from the measurements. I’m impressed and plan to consider other Cashmerette patterns whenever I am looking for new projects.

Meriman Trouser

The Meriman Trouser by Cashmerette is simply the best for curvy woman. Since my purchase I have made three pairs of pants and I’m loving them.
I must say over the years I had challenges making pants for myself because of the alterations to the pattern. But Jenny and her team have solved the problem for all the curvy woman. Keep up the good work.

Trouser success

This might be the first pair of non-fitted pants that I'm happy with! I used the 0-16 range with the full butt option. The butt fit is great 👍🏻. I like the front and back darts and the fit was very good with minimal adjustments. I'm very happy and I'll make this pattern again.
