Love this dress

I'm very busty so it is hard to find things that fit. This dress fits the bill. I have to use a pin or tape to keep from showing too much but I get lots of compliments on this dress. It is easy to whip up. So far I've made three, with more to come!

Universally flattering!

Just try to find someone who doesn't look good in this dress, I dare you. I've made the long sleeve, three quarter sleeve, and currently have the short sleeve cut out and ready to be sewn. This is a quick, easy pattern, even for a beginner. There's a sewalong if the pattern instruction booklet is not enough, but it probably is. I also plan to make three Appleton shirts, one in each sleeve. After that, I'd probably better move on to the Concord!

Dress perfection

I am very new to dressmaking, I've tried several bought patterns with absolute disasters as results, I was about to give up, then I found the Appleton on Instagram! I'm now in love with me made's my first Appleton was a triumph! No muslin! I will make a size smaller next time for shoulders but it's a minor thing the cup sizes are genius, and the "real woman" sizing options a celebration! Who doesn't love a wrap dress! I can't thank Jenny enough for opening up a world of successful dressmaking to me! The results are all because of the fantastic pattern and nothing to do with my skills! I would suggest if you are new like me, you find the sew along for the pattern you've picked and follow that I would never have managed without it! Thank you Jenny!

Love at first sight <3

I used to wear rtw wrap dresses a lot several years back, but as I gained weight over time, it became quite impossible to find any dresses that fit me, weren't tent-shaped, were made of good quality fabrics and in nice colors and prints. I loved sewing, but was frustrated with the patterns and fit of the Big 4, so I rarely sewed for myself.

The Appleton literally changed my life! In size 22 C/D it fits me without any alterations, sews up easily, and feels like wearing secret pajamas :-D So far, I've made four, some with slight alterations in length and sleeves, and I've sketched out and bought fabric for at least four more in different variations. This pattern is so versatile that just by varying fabrics (different weights, solids/ prints/ color blocking, textures...) it's easy to create a closet full of unique dresses.
