It was easy to make. I would use a more medium weight jersey next time as mine was a bit thin. I made a no adjustment (except for the hem ). It was a quick and flattering summer dress. I’ll make it again.
Never have I had a dress which fitted so well and I could make myself. This pattern has given me so much confidence in myself and my sewing xxx
I made a maxi-fied Appleton dress for my sister. I just added about 14 inches to the bottom. She lives in another state, so I wasn't able to make a muslin, but it fit her great right out of the envelope!
I love the Appleton. It is flattering and doesn’t gape. It is easy to wear at the office or out. So comfortable, like wearing secret, dressy pajamas. The instructions are clear and it comes together easily.
My daughter is very difficult to fit - EE bust, tiny waist, generous bottom, extremely short-waisted and hollow-chested. Buying or sewing clothes has always been a difficult, tearful experience. Today she put on the Appleton dress I finished yesterday. She is glowing and the first words out of her mouth were "I have never had a dress that fitted me so well." She absolutely adores the dress. I cannot tell you what it means to us to finally be able to dress her in beautiful, flattering clothes. I used the sew-along links twice just to ensure that I was on the right track, but the instructions were good and I found the pattern easy to sew. Thank you so much for giving my daughter the experience of putting on a dress and feeling and looking beautiful.
