I was dubious about this pattern as I don't line seam lines across my tummy area but this is a great design, the waist seam is actually a couple of inches above the waist at the narrowest part of the torso. I am a UK size 14 40-33-42 and I cut a 12C/D grading to a 14 at the waist. The neck line was a bit wide for me so I took it in an inch at each shoulder seam and made new facing pattern pieces. I made the top with an extended peplum which is an idea I copied from the blogger Carolyn at diaryofasewingfanatic. I will definitely be making the dress too.
This is a fantastic pattern. It fit me right out of the envelope, the only adjustment I had to make was on the length of the skirt and sleeve as I am 5' 1". The instructions are clear and the dress sews up very quickly. The dress is very versatile as it can be casual or dress depending on fabric choice. Highly recommend this pattern.
I like this pattern very much. I find it perfect for office days where you have to dress up a bit. Since it requires elastic fabric, it is also comfortable to wear throughout the day and doesn’t get wrinkled easily. The instructions are also very good, I found them easy to follow and I was able to sew my dress in 4h.
So far I made one top and two dresses. The dresses are for my basic work wardrobe and the top is casual wear. For the top I used a printed jersey and ponte for the 2 dresses. I have a stomach and narrow shoulders. The pattern was easy to grade to my size. I did not make the kick pleat. I think the pattern flatters my shape. Love the pockets. I live in northern Canada so I am wearing these cozy dresses with tights for warmth. I am somewhat of an experienced sewist and found this to be an easy make. I might try a lighter weight knit for a summer version. I will be posting pictures of the dresses on my instagram page sewmanyroses.
I've been hunting for the perfect stretch dress pattern for while now, and have found some other recent releases a bit disappointing. But my Christmas holiday project was the Rivermont dress, and that turned out to be a great decision! The drafting is excellent as usual, and for those of us curvier ladies the built in cup size options make things so easy. I think this will be my go-to stretch dress pattern now (only tiny alterations were needed straight out of the envelope), definitely good timing as these dresses are amazing 'secret pyjamas' for back to work in the New Year. This is the second Cashmerette Pattern I've sewn, and I can highly recommend them x
